One might be tempted to say the story is almost unbelievable, except that Ms. Spacing is atrocious as paragraphs are jammed together. I think the book was well written and definitely gave the story from another point of view than one would expect. JS is an easy to read best seller but not a keeper if you want something more refined. This is such a cartoon of a story that it's quite funny. Before he was a Sports-Only kind of kid. These Tchaikovsky transcriptions (unfortunately no one is credited for them in the editions) are not in Liszt's league, although in a sense they do not need to be: Beethoven's symphonic textures are more complex, sometimes more fragmented and episodic than Tchaikovsky's, where parts double or interlink more fluidly. This book is a must-read for anyone who finds him/herself deeply affected by the emotions and mental states of other people, who is exhausted by crowds or too much personal interaction, or who is pulled apart by emotions they have no reason to feel.
