She has read them over and over again. Her anthologies have received great critical acclaim. Unfortunately, it also suffered from same structural flaws as Sundown, just to a lesser extent. The hero and heroine were brought to together in a reasonable manner- two degrees of separation between friends/family. bought many copies to give to friends and family. His descriptions of customs and practices are detailed and absorbing. I like the way the author vividly develops the various characters (they seem to come alive and leap off of the page) and reveals the plots (delightful twists and turns) in easy to digest chapters. While I can't speak for someone looking for an in-depth analysis of certain people or events in turn-of-the-millenium Europe, for someone who is not familiar with the time or territory, this book was an excellent and very informing read. Of course, there is an end to every book. For paperbacks, I believe this is the way to go. This book even brings back some characters from previous books in the series. Alan Dean Foster is the modern day Renaissance writer, as his abilities seem to have no genre boundaries. Great book with very interesting commentaries. I urge folks to give Psion a chance but to remember that it is just the beginning of a journey. Jones doesn't preach at us but rather demonstrates logically and rationally why living by the teachings of Christ are the only path to a full and abundant life.
